Repairs
Is it better to repair or replace my patio slider?
Repair, nearly every time. If the frame and glass are fine, new rollers and an adjustment cost a fraction of a replacement door.
Why is our patio door suddenly hard to open?
Either the track is clogged with leaves and grit or the rollers have worn out. Clean the track; if that doesn’t fix it, the rollers need replacing.
What does a grinding sound mean?
Most often a broken or flattened roller, letting the panel scrape the rail. It will get worse and can damage the track.
The door came off the track. Can I lift it back?
Please don’t. Panels are heavy and can fall, and something underneath is usually broken. Keep the area clear and call us.
Can you fix the screen door that goes with the slider?
Yes. We replace screen rollers and latches and rescreen torn panels, including pet-resistant screen.
Do you add child-safety locks to sliders?
Yes. A secondary lock mounted high on the frame is a simple way to keep little ones from opening the pool door.
Which door brands do you repair?
Most aluminum and vinyl patio sliders found in Seminole County homes, from builder doors to heavier impact models.
Prices & payment
How much does a sliding door repair cost in Longwood?
Roller and track jobs start at $149, locks and handles at $79, seals and drafts at $99 and glass at $299. Bigger or specialty doors can cost more, and you get the exact figure before work begins.
Is there a fee for the visit?
No. We look at the door and quote it for free, with no obligation to go ahead.
What could make my repair cost more?
Oversized or impact panels, three- or four-panel doors, a badly worn rail or hard-to-find parts. You’ll hear about any of these before we begin.
Do I pay anything up front?
Nothing. We bill after the door is working and you’re happy with it.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check and all major cards.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes, a 6-month warranty on parts and labor. If the repair fails in that time, we come back and fix it.
Longwood homes
Do you work on pool and lanai doors?
All the time. Doors to screened pool enclosures get heavy use and lots of debris, so rollers and tracks wear faster.
Our trees drop a lot of leaves. Does that affect the door?
Yes. Leaves, needles and pollen collect in the track and grind under the rollers. Vacuuming the track often makes a real difference.
Can you repair the original slider in a 1980s home?
Usually. The frames from that era are sturdy, and replacement rollers and locks are still available for most of them.
Do you work in the Longwood historic district?
Yes. Older homes there often have sliders added to porches or rear rooms, and we repair those like any other.
Which neighborhoods do you serve?
All of Longwood, including Historic Longwood, Sweetwater Oaks, Columbus Harbour, Wekiva Hunt Club, Springs Landing, Skylark, plus Altamonte Springs, Winter Springs, Casselberry, Lake Mary.
Is a secondary lock a good idea on a pool door?
Yes. It keeps young children from opening the door to the pool and adds security when you’re away.
Booking
How soon can you come out to Longwood?
Usually within a few days, sometimes the next day. Call or text for the first opening.
How long does the repair take?
Most roller, lock and seal jobs take one to two hours. Glass may need a second visit once it arrives.
Does someone need to be home?
An adult needs to let us in and approve the price. After that you’re free to carry on with your day.
Should I send a photo first?
Please do. A picture of the bottom of the panel, the track or the lock tells us which parts to bring.
Can you call me at a set time?
Yes. Use the call-back box on our site, pick a time, and we’ll phone you then.
Care tips
What’s the best way to clean the track?
Vacuum it, wipe the rail with a damp cloth, let it dry, then give it a light coat of dry silicone spray.
Should I use WD-40 on my sliding door?
Better not. Oily sprays collect dirt and pollen and make the door stickier over time. Use dry silicone instead.
How often does the track need cleaning?
About once a month, more in spring pollen season and fall when the leaves come down.
When do sliding door rollers wear out?
Typically after 10 to 20 years. If the door feels heavy or grinds, they’re likely done.
Can I raise a sagging door myself?
Often. Adjustment screws near the bottom corners of the panel lift the rollers. If they’re seized or nothing changes, the rollers need replacing.
